It was announced today that HÜBNER GmbH, based in Kassel Germany, has sold their bus and coach door business to the Door Systems Group. DSG incorporates the companies DSG Deans, DSG Peters and DSG Kiekert. DSG has acquired the associated assets for an undisclosed consideration.
HÜBNER has a global business focused around the bus and rail industry, specialising in the gangways, folding bellows, vehicle articulation systems, ramps, plastic, foam parts, rubber and other structural products. HÜBNER has an excellent reputation for quality engineered products.
The bus door business of HÜBNER supplies doors to many European companies including Solaris, MAN, Heuliez and VDL. All of the products are currently manufactured in Kassel.
HÜBNER has decided to exit the bus door industry as it does not believe that it can achieve the critical mass necessary to make the division profitable.
It is the intention of DSG to move the manufacturing operation to Deans based in the UK in Beverley, Yorkshire. The spare parts, service and support operations will be conducted from Deans Kiekert in Velbert, Germany. It is anticipated that the manufacturing operation will move to Deans in the next three months while the service operations will start almost immediately.
DSG Deans stated, ‘this is a significant strategic step for the DSG group and is consistent with our strategy of expanding internationally. The HÜBNER business is complementary to the current product range and therefore should be easily integrated into the DSG group’.
HÜBNER stated, ‘we sold the business to DSG because we are of the opinion that we have found a comparable business partner who can continue the acquired business in a professional manner’. HÜBNER also offers to provide the necessary support to DSG to ensure a smooth transfer.
