Front-end gangways

Front-end gangways are used in multiple unit trains during peak hours, when it is necessary to lengthen the train by combining it with a second or third unit. Attached to the driver’s cab, they connect the units throughout. This allows passengers to move through the entire train conveniently and safely. This systems also permits the connection of entire trains.

The front-end gangway - being an easily expanded system - allows quick response to a higher number of passengers.

 

Sliding plate front-end gangway

As an enhancement to the sliding plate gangway we have developed the sliding plate front-end gangway. This gangway is mounted on the front of the vehicle. During the coupling process, elastomer springs press the sliding plates on each of the opposite gangway halves.

Corrugated bellows offer convenient all-weather protection and the non-skid floor panels ensure a safe crossover. Integrated folding doors in the sliding frame prevent soiling of the interior and provide convenient locking of the front when the gangway is not in use.

We have created a particularly compact and lightweight system by employing lightweight production principles and by simplifying the interfaces to the vehicle.

 

Modular front-end gangway
The modular front-end gangway is a second variant. It is mounted to the vehicle front as a completely pre-assembled module including the doors. The gangway is hidden behind the closed doors and not visible from the outside.


For the coupling process the doors of the front-end gangway are opened, the gangway is extended manually and coupled to the opposite gangway half, sealing it tightly. A safe crossover is guaranteed at any time by the well proven HÜBNER components – a closed circumferential corrugated bellows with aluminum coupling frame and linking bridge.


When decoupled, the halves can be retracted into the respective vehicle fronts where they can be locked in the front doors. This gives the vehicle an aerodynamic and aesthetic front shape while firmly sealing it. At the same time, the gangway blends in harmoniously with the overall design of the vehicle.


The extremely compact design of the modular front-end gangway provides a convenient crossover width as well as sufficient space for driver’s cab on either side.
